Hi, I’m Anna,

A Southern Oregon transplant, I moved to Seattle to attend university in 2000 and have made it my home since finding the simultaneous proximity of the wilds of nature and Arts & Culture to be my ideal. An avid reader and gardener, and occasional creator, I am often in a book, the dirt, or engaged in a creative project as the muse strikes when not working with children and families.

My Approach

My practice is based in a person-centered, relational approach which focuses on the development and maintenance of a trusting therapeutic relationship within which issues that are presented or arise during treatment may be addressed in a manner specific to the needs, values, and strengths of the individual client. I draw heavily on the principles and techniques of family systems, attachment, cognitive/behavioral, and psychodynamic theories, and have specialized training and extensive experience in the provision of both directive and nondirective play therapy.  Utilizing the principles of these theories and techniques, I tailor treatment interventions to meet the specific concerns and goals of the individual client. I also strive to work collaboratively with each child’s natural and professional supports as indicated in order to ensure the provision of comprehensive care for sustained and holistic growth and healing.

After almost two decades of providing clinical services to children and families in non-profit settings including residential treatment and most recently within Mercer Island public schools, I bring extensive knowledge of the systems and resources within King County with which children and families are most likely to interact and be impacted by, and leverage this within treatment to further promote lasting positive outcomes.
